Thelma Jane (Barr) Keener

Heaven gained a faithful servant when Thelma Jane Keener, 84 of Ashland passed away Saturday July 12, 2025 at UH Samaritan Medical Center.

She was born September 20, 1940 in Ashland County the daughter of Benjamin and Mary Helbert Barr. She was a graduate of Ashland High School and was a homemaker and owner/operator of The Food Dock for 35 years.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years Thomas D. Keener. Her children Jennifer (Paul) Uebel of Ashland, Guy (Deborah) Keener of Leland, North Carolina, Katy Keener of Jeromesville, daughter in law Ashley Murdocco Keener of Kent, Ohio and 5 grandchildren, Cory Barrick, Nicholas Keener, Mariah Keener, Sarah Keener and Colin Keener.

She was preceded in death by a son John Keener, her parents, brother Arthur Barr and sibling infant twins.

Services will be at 11:00am Wednesday July 16, 2025 at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor John Bouquet officiating. A luncheon will follow at 11:45am, then we will proceed to Savannah Cemetery.


Friends may call from 9-11am Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to Bethel Baptist Missions and Christ’s Provision, Inc.
