Steven Roger Obrecht, 73, passed away Monday, April 13 at his home. Steve was born September 26, 1946, the son of Mike and Marilyn Obrecht. Steve lived his whole life near Mohicanville. Steve was a graduate of Jeromesville High School, class of 1964. He Graduated from Ashland College (1969) with a B.S degree specializing in Biology. He was a lifelong Dairy farmer retiring in 2010.
Steve was an avid outdoorsman, naturalist, historian (loved reading), and conservationist. He was 3th generation farm family), living and working on the family homestead which dated back to 1900 (a century farm). He treasured drives thru the farm, woodlands, and nature. Obrecht Farms LFP was one of the first conservation plans in Ashland county dating to 1950 that still has the contour strips that hold the soil on the scenic rolling hills of Mohicanville. Steve treasured his scenic view of the Mohican Valley and the church in the valley. The Evangelical/UCC/Mohicanville church. His family night fun nights and daily visits to his area friends will be greatly missed.
Steve became a caregiver for his mother for several years before her death. Steve is survived by his older brother and business partner Mike (Sharon), his younger brother Joel (Cindy), niece Michele (Joe) Hilleary of Grove City and great nephew Josh. Parents, Guy Mike and Marilyn, two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. Steve's frontier spirit and love of the land and family will bless the farms forever.
Private family services will be at the Pioneer Cemetery Chapel at a later date due to the current health crisis.
Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville assisted the family with arrangements.
