Stanton O’Neil McGuire, age 89, went to be with the Lord on October 18, 2022. He was
born June 23, 1933 in Mansfield, OH the son of Floyd and Edna (Stumbaugh) McGuire.
He was a 1951 graduate of Hayesville High School and a U.S. Army Veteran of the
Korean Conflict. Stanton was a carpenter and a member of the Stone Lutheran Church.
Stanton was a very caring man.
He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved to
boat, snowmobile and loved being a spectator at Hillsdale sporting events. Above all, he
loved spending time with his family and friends. Stanton was a member of the Ashland Elks,
American Legion and a lifetime member of the Hayesville Amvets.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Joyce (Van Gilder) McGuire, a daughter, Cappie Betson (Rusty
McClure) of Hayesville, two grandchildren, Cori (Jenny) Betson of Jeromesville and Amy (Jeremy)
Jarvis of Hayesville, and three very special great grandchildren, Carsten and Olivia Betson and Reece
Jarvis.
Services will be 1:00 PM Friday October 21, 2022 at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville with Pastor
Tim Hubert officiating. Burial will be in Vermillion Cemetery where the Ashland Honor Guard will
conduct military rites.
Friends may call Thursday October 20, 2022 from 5-8 pm at the funeral home, with a Masonic service
to follow.
