Shirley A. (Boreman) Steward, 85, of Jeromesville went home to be with her Lord
and Savior on Tuesday, May 7th at UH Samaritan of Ashland, under hospice care
after a period of declining health. She was born December 8, 1938 in Shreve, OH
to Emerson & Amanda (McVey) Boreman. She was a 1956 graduate of Wooster
High School. On May 14, 1962, she married Robert (Bob) Steward by Pastor Roger
Kincaid at the Nazarene Church in Piqua, OH.
They made their home in the Wooster and Ashland area for the next 62 years.
They worked together building a home centered around Christ.
After high school, Shirley attended Wooster Business College. Shirley worked
various times in retail at Annat’s and Freedlander’s Department stores in Wooster.
She also was Office Services Supervisor at the College of Wooster. After starting a
family, she was a homemaker with many talents. She was an excellent cook,
seamstress, and gardener. She was a fabulous pie maker, utilizing the fresh fruits
of any season. Her talent as an artist in pencil, water colors, and oils, was
outstanding. She would always incorporate her love for the Lord in her artwork.
Shirley was advanced in the art of counted cross stitch, making numerous
Afghans. She was a voracious reader from a very young age. Shirley loved the
Lord and desired to see others come to know Christ as their Savior as well. She
spent countless hours reading her bible and praying for others. She was also a
great encourager for countless missionaries.
She is survived by her husband, Bob, daughter Lisa (Robert) Middleton of Cadillac,
MI and son, Richard (Sandy) Steward of Wooster, grandchildren Joshua Middleton
and Rachel Steward. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Paul
Boreman, and an infant son, Robert.
A service will be held on Monday May 13, 2024 at Community Bible Church, 5279 County Road 314,
Millersburg at 11:00 am, with a one hour visitation prior to the service. Pastor
Neal Wheeler will be officiating. Private graveside service will follow at Fairview
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Daily Bread

to the staff of Southern Care Hospice, specifically Britney and Kim. They would
also like to thank the ICU nurses at UH Samaritan of Ashland. The loving care and
genuine kindness shown to Shirley and her family was greatly appreciated. Fickes
