On March 31, 2023, Rosemary Ellen Banks, age 91, passed away after a long illness and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was born April 14, 1931, to the Reverend Homer and Dorothy (Stover) Denney in Iowa City, Iowa. After her family moved to Ohio, Rosemary remained a lifelong Ohioan, residing most recently at the Brethren Care Center in Ashland, Ohio.
Rosemary was a great cook, enabling her to work many years in the restaurant business before retiring to retail. She loved reading, flowers, shopping, eating out, and family gatherings, especially during holidays when decorating was a priority in her house. Her personal appearance was also of utmost importance. She always wanted to look her best….nails manicured, hair styled, makeup on, and attired in her “fancy” clothes, complete with jewelry. Most of all, she will be lovingly remembered for her faithful trust in the Lord and her devotion to her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ashland, Ohio.
She is survived by one son Daniel (Sylvia) Banks of Ashland, Ohio; three daughters, Deborah(David) Donough of Lancaster, South Carolina; Cathy(Steve)Spaniel of Mansfield, Ohio; and Cindy(Rick)Jones of Swanton, Ohio; 10 grandchildren…David, Misty, Lukas, and Tyler Donough; Jonathan, Jason, and Justin Jones; Natalie and Ursula Banks; and Tiffany Untch; 20 great grandchildren…Gabrielle, Evangelyn, Olivia, Ethan, Jocelyn, and Adeline Donough; AJ, Kami, Lincoln, Lydie, and Jovie Donough; Camden, Regan, Madison, and Jaylen Donough; Alivia, Felicity, Caroline, and Hayden Jones; and Brooklyn Untch; One sister, Theda (Larry) Zimmerman of Wooster, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her parents Homer and Dorothy Denney; two brothers, David and Darel Denney; and her son-in-law Rick Jones.
Visitation is planned at Fickes Funeral Home, 84 N. High Street, Jeromesville, Ohio, on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 12 Noon, officiated by her grandson Jonathan Jones. Interment in Jeromesville Cemetery.
