Robert Guy Ickes

Robert Guy Ickes, 85, of Polk, OH went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December

14, 2024. Robert (Bob) was born on August 17, 1939 in Wooster, OH to Herbert G. and Ethel

(Kramer) Ickes. He grew up on the family farm on Ickes Road in Wayne County. Bob graduated from

Northwestern in 1958 where he was on the basketball team and a member of the FFA. He was married

to Gloria Savick from 20 years. They had 1 daughter, Kathy and 1 son, Timothy. He was then married

to Helen Myers Ickes in 1982 until her passing in 2010. Bob was employed at Buckeye Builders

Supply, National Silo and retired in 1997 after being employed for 28 years at Frito Lay. Bob was a

man of faith and attended various churches during his life, read his Bible faithfully and in his later

years followed several ministries on TV. He was very thankful to know his family also loved the Lord!

Bob had several hobbies including JD tractors and participated in many tractor pulls around OH and

was still pulling the summer of 2023 even loading/unloading his tractors himself. He has many

trophies that he won over the years. He also was an avid hunter and passed that on to his son, grandson

and several of his great-grandsons. He felt especially blessed that 2 of his great-grandsons each got

their first buck this year!

Bob is survived by his son, Timothy (Tami) Ickes of Polk, his daughter, Kathy Ickes (David Miller) of

TN, grandchildren including, Todd Guy (Victoria) Ickes of CO, Tara Ickes (Ross) Creager of Delaware,

OH, Tonya Ickes of Medina, OH, Wade Miller of TN, Hana Miller of TN; 6 great-grandsons, 2 great-

granddaughters and 1 sister, Elma Fisher of Wooster. He was preceded in death by is parents, wife,

Helen Ickes, brother, Paul Ickes, 4 half-sisters and 7 half-brothers.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 6-8 pm at Fickes Funeral Home in

Jeromesville, OH with funeral service at 1 pm on Thursday December 19, 2024 at the funeral home

with Todd G. Ickes officiating. Burial will follow in Fairhaven Cemetery.
