Richard "Dick" N. Clark Obituary

Richard “Dick” N. Clark, 97, passed away June 9, 2021 at Colonial Manor Health Care Center in

Loudonville, where he resided for four years after his wife, Lillian, passed away May 9, 2017. Richard

was born March 24, 1924, to Walter and Florence Black Clark. He married Lillian Gongwer on

September 3, 1966.

Dick was proud to serve our country in the Army during World War II from 1943-1945. After retiring

in March, 1979, from Columbia Gas Co., Dick and Lillian enjoyed playing euchre with their friends.

Dick helped Lillian manage their farm; he enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, Oregon and Hawaii. He was

a congenial and kind man.

Dick was a 59-year Master mason of Ashland Lodge #151. He was involved with Al Koran Shriners

for many years, a noble group who helped provide specialized care to children with burn injuries and

other special healthcare needs.

Family quipped that if Dick could reinvent the wheel he would as he liked to “adjust” new and used

things.

He is survived by his step-daughters, Norma Gongwer (Tex Krebs) of Loudonville and Elaine Carman

of Perrysville. Step-granddaughters, Wendy Carman Poland (Rich) of Perrysville and Jill Carman Van

Stee (Justin) of Ashland, step-great granddaughters, Erica Van Stee and Rylee Poland, and his sister,

Pauline Somerlade of Ashland. He is leaving behind many nephews and nieces.

Besides his wife, Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law, Ken Carman, his four

siblings, Audrey Weikel, Dorothy Miller, Kenneth Clark, Francis Clark and their spouses.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday June 17, 2021 at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville

with Pastor Scott Woodlee officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 AM prior to the service on Thursday June 17, 2021 with a Masonic

Honor Service starting at 10:30 AM.

Burial will be in Vermillion Cemetery at Hayesville where the Ashland Honor Guard will conduct

services.
