Rhoda Kay (Shafer) McKown

Rhoda Kay McKown, 76 of Ashland passed away Friday September 13, 2024 at Kingston of Ashland.

She was born November 27, 1947 in Ashland County the daughter of Frank and Verda Frontz Shafer

Sr. She was a 1966 graduate of Hillsdale High School and worked in customer service at Buehler’s

Fresh Foods. She was a member of the Pine Run Church of God and a member of the American

Morgan Horse Association. Rhoda raised Registered Morgan Horses since 1964.

She is survived by her husband, Robert McKown, to whom she was married May 28, 1989, a son,

Aaron Green of Greenwich, three step-sons, Mike McKown of Ashland, Bill McKown of Columbus

and Tom McKown of New York and a brother, Frank Shafer Jr. of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

In keeping with Rhoda’s wishes, there will be no services.

Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville assisted the family with arrangements.
