Rex Erwin Bogner, born May 28, 1944 in Mansfield, Ohio entered into Eternal Peace on
August 26, 2021 from Arbors Nursing Home in Mansfield, Ohio. Rex was the son of
George and Jane Bogner. He grew up in the Mansfield area, graduating from Mansfield
Senior High School in 1964 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S.
Pine Island in Vietnam. Rex had many interests. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting
and fishing, as he grew older he enjoyed woodworking and became a very
knowledgeable Bee-Keeper, well known in the area.
On July 8. 1966 he married Evelyn Knowlton who survives. They were married just a little over 55
years at his passing away. Also surviving are 3 sons and their spouses. Rex (Mindy) of Mansfield,
Steve (Valarie) of Savannah and Matt (Robin) of Nankin. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Mike
(Mary) Bogner, Michelle (Roger) Simpson, Heather (Jerry) Mencel, Andrew Bogner and Maggie
Bogner and 5 great grandchildren, Makayla, Max, Lane, Avery and Penny Rose, with another on the
way, as well as his sister-in-law, Helen Bogner of Mansfield and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Jane Bogner, infant brother, Jimmy, brother,
Kenneth Bogner, nephew, Jim Bogner, a sister, Joan Smith, many uncles, aunts, cousins and best friend,
Bob Strong.
Services will 11:00 AM Wednesday September 1, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day
Saints Mansfield Ward with Bishop Spencer Larson officiating. Burial will be in Jeromesville
Cemetery.
Friends may call on Tuesday August 31, 2021 from 6-8 pm at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville.
