Retha Fern Marshall

Retha Fern Marshall, 77, of Jeromesville passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday May 26, 2022 at her home.

Very few people knew her as Retha, as she always went by her middle name: Fern. 

Born February 10, 1945 in Virginia, Fern was the youngest of eight children born to Ruben Ray & Elizabeth Mae (Moore) Lambert. Fern graduated from Ervington High School in Nora, Virginia and moved to Ashland, Ohio shortly after. On February 22, 1968, she married Richard "Dick" Raymond  Marshall, who proceeded her in death on May 25th, 2021. 

Fern worked at Fautless Rubber and later Coburn. She was a member of the Brookwood Church of Christ in Mansfield.

Surviving are a son, Bradley Marshall of Ashland, a daughter and son-in-law Crystal & Clint Sloan of Ashland and a daughter Amy Krebs (Kevin) of Hayesville, 4 grandchildren: Clay Sloan, Malery Sloan, Kaitlyn Marshall and Robert Marshall, and one great-granddaughter, Bryleigh Sloan.  Also surviving are her siblings Nina Arrington, Shirley Brummit, Farrel (Lois) Lambert and a sister-in-law, Mavis Lambert.

Along with her parents and husband,  Fern was proceeded in death by her sisters: Ruby Neece, Helen Nash, Trula Mercer and a brother, Buford Lambert.

Services will be at 3:00 PM on Tuesday May 31st, 2022 at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville with calling hour one hour prior.  Pastor Tim Briggs will be officiating. Burial will be at Pioneer Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the Jeromesville Fire Department for their assistance and faithful service.  Also,  Dr. Pierre of Kindred Hospice for his outstanding compassion and guidance as well as his wonderful staff. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Fern's name to either of the above organizations.
