Raymond Lewis Hobson, 68 of Jeromesville passed away Sunday April 6, 2025 at UH Samaritan Medical Center. He was born July 26, 1956 in Mt. Gilead and was the son of Dale and Bonnie Ebersole Hobson. He was a graduate of Ashland High School, class of 1974, where he was an active member of marching and stage band, wrestling, and baseball. After high school he played men’s fastpitch softball for First United Methodist Church. He worked at Hydro-Matic for many years. He received a business degree from Mt. Vernon Nazarene University, later earning his MBA. Ray ended his career as a Key Account Manager for Pentair Pump, retiring in 2024.
Ray enjoyed spending time outside with his family hosting gatherings, time in the woods with his sons, and seeing his grandchildren grow through sports and extracurricular activities. He was an avid woodworker. He also spent several years on the Hayesville and Jeromesville Volunteer Fire Departments as an advanced EMT.
Ray will be remembered for his years coaching baseball and football. Never really growing up himself, he was approachable and relatable, allowing him to mentor many young athletes with kindness and a mischievous style.
