Raymond E. (Mike) Bauer Obituary

Raymond E. Bauer (Mike), 88, of Ashland, passed away, Friday, January, 14, 2022 at his residence.


Mike was born October 22, 1933 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, the son of Ray and Vera Bauer. He


graduated from Beaver Falls High School, received his undergraduate degree from Ashland College,


and his Master’s Degree from the University of Akron. He was a retired school principal with Hillsdale


and Mapleton Local Schools, where he was actively engaged with the community supporting his


students, staff, and parents. Mike was an avid history buff and after his retirement became an


interpreter for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation providing tours of historical sites. Mike was a


proud member of the United States Army and was a Korean War veteran.


He will be missed by his beloved wife, Marilyn, of 65 years who was his childhood sweetheart. He will


be missed by his children David (Gina) of Tuscaloosa and Deb (Mark) Grimwood of Ashland,


grandchildren Sarah (Josh) Glaze, Zach (Lauren), Luke (Gouri), and Matt (Cassandra) Threlkeld. Also


surviving are his 7 great grandchildren. A private celebration of life will be held at a later time and he


will be buried at the Western Reserve National Cemetery with full military honors.


Donations can be made in Mike’s memory to Associated Charities of Ashland County.
