Norma Jean (Perry) Selvage

Norma Jean Perry Selvage, age 83, passed away peacefully at Crystal Care of Ashland on Sunday, February 9, 2025. She was born May 26, 1941, in Mansfield, Ohio, the daughter of the late Elmer Early Perry and Pearl Nunley. Norma was a homemaker for most of her life. Prior to her marriage she worked for the telephone company. Norma enjoyed spending time with her husband Jim tending their flowers and vegetable gardens. Their flowers were admired by neighbors and people driving by their home in rural Jeromesville. The brightest part of her later life was spent with her grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She attended Jeromesville Christian Church. After Jim's passing, Norma enjoyed her friends at the Martin House. She spent many hours playing bingo and participating in other activities.

On August 25, 1962, Norma married James Thomas (Jim) Selvage, who preceded her in death on August 19, 2021. Survivors include her sons, Thomas (Vickie) of Ashland and Douglas (Sara Armani) of Berlin, Germany; grandchildren Thomas and Eliana Selvage of Ashland and Edwin Armani of Berlin, Germany; sister Pearl Pauline (Polly) Kline of rural Jeromesville; sisters-in-law, Sara Seibert of Wooster, Nancy (Don) Atterholt of Loudonville, Judy Hines of Wooster, Pauline (Harry) Van Den Doleweert of Mansfield; and Susan Selvage of Wooster; brothers-in-law, Willis Selvage of Wooster and Roger (Peggy) Selvage of Ashland; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Norma was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert D. Perry, Elmer Perry, Jr., David Eugene Perry, and James Clifford Perry; as well as sisters Shirley Trummer, Janice Hothem, and Thelma Holmes; brothers-in-law Gus Kline, Billy Selvage, Doyle Hines and Tom Seibert; as well as sister-in-law Ruby Selvage.

Friends may visit with the family at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 6:30-8 p.m. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 21 at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Keith Winn. Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Norma’s memory to Hillsdale Cares c/o Cindy Young, 75 W. Main St., Ashland, OH 44805 or to the Jeromesville Christian Church.
