Melvin Cleo “Duke” Browning, 80 of Wooster passed away Wednesday September 22,
2021 at Life Care Hospice in Wooster. He was born March 16, 1941 in Wevaco, West
Virginia the son of Carl and Myrtle Teets Browning. He was a United Methodist
Church Minister for 34 years, preaching in West Virginia for 7 years and in Ohio for 27
years.
On June 21, 1960 he married, Betty Braido, and together they had six children. In addition
to Betty, he is survived by five children, Kevin (Charlotte) Browning of Owensboro, Kentucky,
Felicia Browning of Rocky River, Michael (Jennifer) Browning of Upper Arlington, Todd
(Cheri Helbert) Browning of Wooster and Douglas (Kelly) Browning of Pickerington, 14
grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, two sisters, Norma Snyder of Dover and Bonnie (Byron)
Ferguson of Cambridge and a sister-in-law, Carol Browning.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Mark Browning, a grandson, Andrew
Browning, a brother, Rondal Browning, a sister, Nola James and two brothers-in-law,
Raymond Snyder and Fred James.
Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday September 25, 2021 at Shreve United Methodist
Church with Pastors Scott Walsh and Dennis Rhinehart officiating.
Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton.
Friends may call Friday September 24, 2021 from 6-8 pm at Fickes Funeral Home in
Jeromesville or one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
