Margaret Smith Obituary

Margaret Louise Clifford Smith, 87 passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday March 23, 2022.  She was born February 10, 1935 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Hazel Margaret Warner Clifford and the late Cecil Clifford.  She was married to James Edward Smith on January 24, 1954.

Louise was a homemaker and worked part-time retiring from the Hillsdale School System after working there beside her husband for 20 years.  She was a member of the Rowsburg Nazarene Church and when her little country church closed, she attended Ashland Dickey Church of the Brethren where she loved her church family there.  The most important things in her life were God and family.

She is survived by a son, Perry (Tenna) Smith Loudonville, a daughter, Jeannie (Ron) Firestone of Mansfield, four grandchildren, Ryan (Sara) Firestone of Dublin, Jillian (Zachary) Watson of Ashland, Monica (Jason) Zirkle of Shreve and Brandon Smith of Boston, MA, two step-grandchildren, Shawna (Marlin) Scott of Mansfield and Ian (Shelby) Simmons of Loudonville, eight grandchildren, Emryn, Kinsley and Reese Firestone, Oliver, Virginia Rose and Milo Watson, Jaden Yurick and Gunner DeJulius, five step-great grandchildren, Steven, Brianna and Quintin Scott, Sawyer and Wren Simmons, a brother, Dale Clifford, six sisters, Ada Culp, Eunice McKenzie, Carol Fortune, Sharon Reed, Wanda Barton and Barbara Westline and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim on October 6, 2018, three brothers, Dewey, Lawrence and Clarence Clifford, one sister, Patricia Culp and a special great granddaughter, Violet Grace Watson.

Services will be 11:00 AM Monday March 28, 2022 at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville with Pastor Jeff Messner officiating.  Burial will be in Jeromesville Cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday March 27, 2022 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
