Marcia Louise (Dennis) Wagoner

Marcia Louise (Dennis) Wagoner, 71 of rural Johnstown passed away Monday December 14, 2020 after complications following a stroke on November 12, 2020. She was born in Mansfield, Ohio to Paul William Dennis and Cordelia Adelene “Addie” (Remy) Dennis on December 6, 1949. Marcia graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1968 and went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Ashland College in 1972. She taught school for 3 years at Triway in Shreve, Ohio, before deciding teaching was not for her. Soon after with the help of a neighbor she got a job at the State Fire Marshal’s Office in Columbus, Ohio, where she worked for 30 years until retirement. She joined a single’s group in 1974, through the United Methodist Church of which she was a member, called Single Young Adults (SYA). Through this group she met and eventually married the love of her life, Robert Eugene Wagoner. They were married February 27, 1982 in Mansfield, Ohio. Marcia and Robert bought a small farm outside Johnstown in 1983, where they raised their 2 children. Marcia and Robert attend Faith Fellowship Church in Johnstown. Marcia was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who made sure her family never wanted for anything. In her last few years, the light of her existence was her grandson William, they spent many an hour picking berries, cooking together, and playing in their small duck pond where many a frog was caught and many an accidental (or not so accidental) dunking took place. She was greatly loved and will be very much missed.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Adelene Dennis; brother, Roger Paul Dennis; and nephew, Clay Carl Bicker. Marcia is survived by her husband of 38 years, Robert Eugene Wagoner; daughter, Stacy Lynn Wagoner of Johnstown; son, Matthew (Amanda) Dennis Wagoner.of Newark, and grandson, William Robert Wagoner. She is also survived by her father, Paul Dennis (99) of Ashland, 2 sisters, Karen (Carl) Bicker, and Amy (Jim) Pickering; nieces and nephews, Lisa Bicker, Paul Bicker, Nolan Bicker, Ashley(Travis) Pickering, Julie (Steve) Coblentz, Bryan (Calysia) Pickering and Eric Pickering; great nieces and nephews, Joslyn Bicker, Braylen Vogler, Gage Bicker, Aubrey Bicker, Colt Arnold, and Leighton Coblentz.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday December 19, 2020 at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville, Ohio with Pastor Dan McLaughlin officiating. Family and friends may call two hours before the service. Interment will be at Hayesville Vermillion Cemetery.
