Lura Faith Rose, age 91, died peacefully at her daughter's home Tuesday evening, April 27, 2021. Surrounded by loving family, she took her final breath on earth and stepped into her long-awaited heavenly home.
She was born November 22, 1929, in Gassaway, WV, to Burton and Maude Cutlip and was one of 10 children. On February 20, 1950, she married Johnnie Dale Rose, who preceded her in death on November 2, 2000.
Lura's relationship with Jesus Christ was the first priority in her life. Until her health prevented her from doing so, she attended church faithfully and enjoyed reading her Bible and participating in Bible studies. Although not rich by the world's standards, she gave to the Lord's work and prayed for friends and strangers alike. Those who attended church with her will undoubtedly remember hearing her strong alto voice as she sang the old hymns that she dearly loved.
People who knew Lura often commented on her sense of humor (she always had a riddle or joke to tell). She loved playing games but could also often be found reading books, doing crossword puzzles or writing poems. Her greatest legacy is that her children, grandchildren and many of her great-grandchildren know Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour.
In addition to her husband, Lura was preceded in death by her son, Mike Rose, great-grandson, Clay Wright, her parents and eight of her nine siblings.
Lura is survived by daughter, Peggy Hendren of Hamilton, MT; son, Chuck Rose of Medina, OH; daughter, Kathy (Buddy) Williams of Navarre, OH; daughter, Rita (Fred) Chenevey of Wooster, OH; daughter, Ginny (Dan) Miller of Bellville, OH; son, Bill Rose of Mansfield, OH; brother, Robert (Barbara) Cutlip of FL; sister-in-law, Georgia Cutlip of VA; and brother-in-law, Jack (Neva) Rose of Shreve, OH. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 2 great, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lura's ashes will be buried beside her husband in the Cutlip Cemetery at Cutlip Fork, WV, where a private family graveside service will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville.
