Linda L. (Blough) Spoerr

Linda L. Spoerr, 81, of Ashland Ohio went to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of September 16, 2023 at her home.   She was born March 7, 1942 in Canan, Ohio to Leona (Easterday) and Gayland Blough.  Linda graduated from Jeromesville, Ohio high school.  Linda and Thomas R Long were married and became the house parents at Ashland County Children’s home from 1965 – 1970 where they fostered many children together. She then became a computer operator at Mansfield Asphalt.  Linda and Thomas moved to a family farm just north of Loudonville, Ohio and she then became the Loudonville schools Food Service Supervisor.  After many years at Loudonville schools, she became Food Service Supervisor for Ashland City Schools and eventually retired.  After Thomas Long’s death in 2004, Linda then married Gene Spoerr of Olivesburg and they lived on a small farm in Ashland.  Linda enjoyed arts, crafts, knitting, card games and cooking for friends and family.  She was a member of United Methodist Church in Olivesburg,Ohio.

Linda was preceded by death by daughter Becki Feightner (Weldon) of Panama City, FL.; Brothers -  Marlon Blough, Roger Blough, Ronnie Snow;  Sisters – Carol Weekly and Carol Anne Weinger

Survivors include husband Gene Spoerr; sons Tom Long of Ashland, OH; Tim Long (Jody) Wake Forest, NC; Stepson Steve Spoerr of Ashland, OH and Stepdaughter Rita Kyser (Tom) of Olivesburg, OH.  Grandchildren: Misty Curtis (Mike), Mandy Feightner and Grandson Mike Feightner (Nicole) of Panama City, FL; Ashley Echelberger (Ryan) of Jeromesville, OH and Scott Long (Cathy) of Ashland, OH; Nicole Lewis and Hannah Long of Wake Forest, NC; Lauren (Ashton) Gottschall of Senaca, SC;  Siblings: “Skip” Blough (Pat) MI; Ed Blough (Sharon) Jeromesville, OH; Jim Blough (Kay) Wadsworth. OH; Lonnie Snow (Soni) IN; Donnie Snow (Becky) of New Philadelphia, OH; Vicki Miller of Canton, OH.

Linda will be interned at Sherwood Memorial Gardens cemetery on Cleveland Road Wooster, Ohio at 1:00 PM on Tuesday September 26, 2023 with graveside services and immediate family attending.  Linda’s brother Pastor Donnie Snow will be officiating.

Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville assisted the family with arrangements.
