Kenneth D. Carman, 70, passed away July 20, 2020, with his daughters and wife by his side at Ohio Health Hospital,
Mansfield, from complications after receiving chemotherapy treatments for Lymphoma. He was born March 20, 1950,
the son of Arles and Mary (Wheeler) Carman, both deceased in 1999.
Ken was a humble, “no frills” man who loved his family, farming, hard work and the serenity of country living, his cattle
who were always on his mind. Ken was a “hands on” man who could fix almost anything.
Ken and his then future wife, Elaine (Gongwer), met on a blind date and married October 2, 1970. They were very
compatible living on their farm. Ken graduate from Ashland High School in 1968 and retired from Columbia Gas
Transmission Company in 2005.
He was a member of the Farm Bureau and NRA.
Besides his wife, Ken is survived by two daughters, Wendy (Rich) Poland and Jill (Justin) Van Stee; two granddaughters,
Erica Van Stee and Rylee Poland. Also surviving are brothers, Ron (Jan) Carman of Mansfield, Tim (Mary) Carman
of Loudonville, one sister, Kay (Gary) Thompson of Ashland, one sister-in-law, Susie Carman, two brothers-in-law,
Paul Goard and Wayne Dixon all of Ashland.
Many friends and relatives will miss Ken.
Others preceding him in death are two sisters, Mary LouAnn Goard and Judith Dixon; one brother, David Carman.
Staying with Ken’s wishes, he will be cremated with no service.
