Julia A. (Atterholt) Franks

July 20, 1935 ~ June 26, 2022 (age 86)

Obituary

On Sunday, June 26, 2022, Julia A. Franks laid down all her earthly trophies and treasures in exchange for a crown in Heaven. She was born on July 20, 1935, the third of seven children, to William and Marguerite (Weitzel) Atterholt. A 1953 graduate of Hayesville High School, she married Donald W. Franks on August 1, 1958. He preceded her in death in August of 2020, after 62 years of marriage.

Julie was a strong and selfless woman. Along with her husband, she raised four children: Betsy, Donna, Toby and Donny. She helped support her family by carrying mail for the Wooster City Post Office for 27 years. She dearly loved her job and formed many relationships with those along her mail route. Upon retirement, Julie often spent time with her grandchildren, whom she loved doting on.

Julie enjoyed flea marketing, antiquing, and treasure hunting. She never met a thrift store she didn’t like. She was also an avid crafter, spending time with her church friends creating beauty from broken pieces. In addition, Julie was known for her generous heart, especially when it came to feeding others. No one ever went hungry when she was around.

Julie is survived by daughters, Donna (David) Williams and Toby Farrell and son, Donald Franks II, eleven grandchildren: Samuel (Sara), Rachael, Philip, Nicholas, Daniel, Megan, Kyle, Regan, Audrey, Erynn, and Kolin, and great-grandchildren, Lewis and Mary Emma. She is also survived by siblings, Daniel Atterholt, Becky Atterholt and Bonnie Morrison.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Robbie Kysor, a daughter, Betsy Bergman, her parents and siblings, David Atterholt, Lola McCartney and Idamay Fortune.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Vermillion Cemetery with Pastor David Williams officiating. There will be no calling hours at the request of the deceased.
