Jim C. Long, 89 of West Salem passed away Friday April 7, 2023 after a prolonged illness.
He was born in Alton, West Virginia the son of Thomas Earl and Delma Wyatt Long.
Jim was a 1951 graduate of Glenmont High School and a U.S. Army Veteran. He enjoyed being in the
country as an Ohio State Park Manager and also lived many years in Ashland County, having worked
as Chief of Security at Ashland University and U-Brand Corporation while owning J&L Locksmith.
Jim enjoyed woodworking, bowling, music and retirement community camaraderie in
extensive golfing, while snowbirding twenty years in Lady Lake and Leesburg, Florida. Most recently
he enjoyed living in Cinnamon Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Brady Long, to whom he was married March 20, 1954, a daughter,
Cynthia Griffith of West Salem, 3 grandchildren, Ezra (Melissa) Amend, Eliza (Thomas) Jenkins and
Gabriel (Nikki) Griffith, many loving great grandchildren, a brother, Thomas E. Long and two sisters,
Linda L. Zwally and Cinda S. Long.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jerry Long and three sisters, Betty Emmons, Luretta
Boeshart and Vernita Mellor.
Services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday April 12, 2023 at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville.
Burial will be in Jeromesville Cemetery.
Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
