Jean Ruth Wobser, 90, of Ashland passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at UH Samaritan Medical Center.
She was born March 12, 1931 in Garrett, IN, the daughter of Louis C. and Marguerite Gregory Bloom.
Jean was a waitress for many years at The Inn Restaurant. Being in the restaurant industry she developed a love
for cooking and baking. She went on to become a baker for the Ashland Country Club. Jean enjoyed cooking,
and often would cook holiday meals for her family. She would keep her favorite recipes hidden, only revealing
them to her grandchildren when teaching them to cook and bake. She was well know for the best pies and her
secret family kluski noodles. Jean was a very hard worker, working out in her yard daily, often having a garden
growing her own food and canning. Jean was very proud of her children and grandchildren, and great grand
children. She often would make scrap books for them with photos and news paper articles when they were in
the paper. She also had a love for animals, and would care for any animal that would find her home. Jean
was Methodist by faith.
She is survived by a daughter, Debra Whaley of Grants Pass, Oregon, a son, Richard Riley of Newark, OH,
13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and a twin sister, Joan Tyson of Bowling Green, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frederick Wobser and her son, David Riley.
