James (Jim) Myers Obituary

James F. Myers Sr.

Jeromesville – James (Jim) Myers of rural Hayesville was at home when he passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord with his family at his side on Monday January 24, 2022.

Jim was born April 28, 1948 in Richland County, to Woodrow R. Myers and Havanna J. (nee Dunlap) Myers. He graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1967. He worked at HydroMatic Pump of Hayesville as well as when they relocated to Ashland. Having left there three times, he often referred to it as his favorite place to quit. On September 28, 1983 his employment with Custom Hoist of Hayesville began, and after nearly 28 years, he chose to retire in April 2010.

For more than 25 years Jim was an active member at the old Synagogue Church of God, located south of Hayesville where he accepted Jesus Christ his Savior and Lord. Then, he chose to follow scripture and was baptized. His baptism took place at Camp Otyokwah, the Church of God camp, in Butler County, Ohio. After studying the Word of God and growing in the Lord, he later taught Sunday school, was a youth advisor, and through the years continued to teach the meaning of scripture to his family. For the past five years, he has attended New Life Community Church of Ashland under the ministry of Pastor Dave McNeely.

Jim wants you to hear the Words of Jesus in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 14:1-6: “Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions…I go to prepare a place for you…and will come again and receive you that where I am you may be also…for I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father, but by Me.” And Rev. 12:11: “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.”

Jim married Connie L. Williams, giving her his name on December 4, 1971. Having a love for each other that has never failed, last month they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by spending it with their favorite person, in their favorite place: together at home.

Jim is dearly missed by his wife, Connie, their children; Diana (Scott) Dennison of Ashland, Jimmy (Missy) Myers of Wooster, Kevin (Alicia) Myers of Mansfield, Tonya (Ben) Brubaker of Clinton, TN and Tyler R. Myers who lives at home; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brother Woody (Kathy) Myers of Savannah; sisters Zelda (Michael) White of Sebastian, FL, Sharon Barrick of rural Hayesville and several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Jean Jones.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at New Life Community Church on St. Rt. 511 Ashland, Monday January 31, 2022. Family will receive friends beginning at 2 pm for one hour. The Service begins at 3 pm with Pastor Dave McNeely officiating. Following the service, burial will be in the Vermillion Cemetery in Hayesville.
