James Wayne Steward - 74

James “Bo” Steward passed away at home in Ashland OH on April 15, 2022.  James was born in

Jackson TN on August 6 1947 to James Maurice and Mary Helen Robertson Steward.  James enlisted

in the Army in 1967 during the midst of the Vietnam war and served honorably with the HHB 6th Bn

61st Artillery group stationed in Germany.  He married Amy Riley on March 20 1980 in Jackson TN. In

1983 they moved to Nicholasville KY where they resided until 2017 when they became residents of

Ashland OH.  James never met a stranger.  He had a great work ethic and throughout his career he

won numerous awards, even going 11 consecutive years without missing a single day of work.  Most

recently he worked at Impressive Packaging in Hayesville OH, where he made numerous friends. 

James was a Man of God attending New Life Community Church locally. James enjoyed sports of all

kinds but loved his Yankees baseball and TN Volunteers.  He enjoyed watching westerns, the weather,

and his grandchildren play.  He has spent the last several years traveling with family and truly enjoying

life.  James was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law, and a niece. He is survived by his

wife of 42 years, Amy Riley Steward, their children Joshua Wayne Steward (Lindsey) of Nicholasville

KY, DeAnn Steward Strahler (Mike) of Ashland OH, and his sister Lee Ann Gleeson of Jackson TN. 

James is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and several beloved nieces and nephews. James will be

buried at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in KY. There will be no local services.

Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville assisted the family with arrangements.
