Glenn Melvin Thompson, 88 of Jeromesville (formerly Ashland) passed away from
cancer, Tuesday evening, December 30, 2025, in his home with his family by his side.
He was born in Polk, Ohio on January 15, 1937, the son of the late Lloyd and Mary
Thompson.
He celebrated his 49th Wedding Anniversary with Mary Beth Thompson in December
17, 2025.
For 44 years Glenn drove semi-trucks. He drove a set of double trailers for UPS, retiring
in 1999. He also co-owned and operator Thompson Lawn Care for 43 years, retiring in
2019. Glenn drove school buses for Ashland City School District and New London
School District for 37 years.
He enjoyed Camping with Fun center Sami’s, boating, snowmobiling, and riding horses
Competing in Team Penning. His passion was pulling his Farmall 460 at multiple
Tractor pulls, winning many trophies. Glenn’s last pull was Loudonville Fair 2025. He
Competed in the National Truck Rodeo and was State Champion in 1975.
Glenn received special tribute for his service in the US Navy.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife. Mary Beth Thompson of Jeromesville, daughter
Terrie (Pete) Cato of Georgia, sons Jeff (Lora) Thompson of Ashland, Mike (Sally)
Thompson of Akron; stepsons Barry (Sandra) Litten of Ashland, Todd Litten of
Jeromesville, daughter-in-law Diana Litten of Ashland. Grandchildren Brittany
Thompson of Ashland, J R Thompson of Florida, Stephanie Litten, Kelsey (JR) Keener,
Bobbi (Bret) Orth all of Ashland, Great Grandchildren Owen Thompson of Florida,
Camila and Gianna Keener of Ashland. Siblings Roy, Sue, Bill and don Thompson, Rita
Kibler. Special dog Friends Boris and Coby.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepson Mark Litten in February 2025.
Calling Hours will be 4-6 pm on January 16, 2026, at Fickes Funeral Home in
Jeromesville, Ohio. Private Burial services will be later.
