Eugene Paul Austin Obituary

Eugene P. Austin, 83 of Jeromesville passed away Saturday January 8, 2022 at Wooster


Community Hospital. He was born May 16, 1938 in Akron he was son of the late Paul


and Cordelia (Moore) Austin.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Dee Austin and


a granddaughter, Lindsay (Austin) Carroll.


He married the love of his life, Hattie (Faught) on April 2, 1960, and together they


had five children, Chris (Steve) Nelson, Kevin (Darla) Austin, Dee Austin (deceased),


Drew Austin and Craig Austin, all of Jeromesville, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren


and a sister, Karen (Bob) Freelon.


He was a proud United States Marine, hardworking, athletic, ornery, good provider, husband, father,


grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. He worked at Pentair Pump in Ashland for 40 years.


He farmed and raised beef cattle, coached ball in the local summer leagues and was a member of the


Ashland County Hall of Fame with the Jeromesville Blue Jays 1955 football team.


Gene enjoyed spending time with family and friends and putting on Camp Eugene for grandchildren.


He supported and enjoyed watching all the local sports teams. He also enjoyed watching cowboy


shows and General Hospital.


Private family services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday January 12, 2022 at Fickes Funeral Home in


Jeromesville with Rev. Sue Chidley officiating. Burial will follow in Jeromesville Cemetery.
