Edward Perrone Obituary

Edward H. Perrone, 81, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born in Batavia, New York and lived on a small farm until he was 15, when he moved to Lindenhurst, L.I., N.Y, where he graduated high school in 1959. Edward graduated from State University of New York Agricultural and Technical Institute in Farmingdale, L.I., N.Y. At the height of the Vietnam Era Edward enlisted in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the 3rd Region, 5035th VFIS Albert Lea, Minnesota as a food inspector. For more than three years he worked on-site at meat-packing plants in the Midwest. After the Army he was employed by Lever Brothers Research in Edgewater, New Jersey. In 1969 he made a bold career move and joined Aetna in its highly regarded training program. In 1972 Edward married the love of his life, Anita Ritza. In 1976, with the steadfast support of his wife, Anita, Edward became the founder and owner of Eagle Plans, Inc. (financial planning and investment service) in Metuchen, New Jersey. “It was important to me that I be independent – I knew I could serve my clients better that way.” Eagle Plans is still in business after being taken over by his son, David.

Edward served on the Planned Giving Committee of JFK Medical Center, Edison, NJ, the Boy Scout Council and the Board of the Metuchen YMCA. While a parishioner of St. Francis Cathedral in Metuchen, NJ, he was a lector and member of the choir. Edward loved to sing and he later joined the Orpheus Club Men’s Chorus of Ridgewood, NJ. He enjoyed camping, fly-fishing, sailing, Alpine skiing, helping others and working.

In September 2016, he relocated to Jeromesville, Ohio to live with his sister Ruth Ann Perrone and his brother-in-law, Ronald Kanzig. Edward continued his love for singing in the choir at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashland, Ohio as well as with the Golden Serenaders of the Ashland Senior Center. In January 2020, he moved into the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio.

He is preceded in by his wife, Anita (9/11/1999); his parents, Ethel Lillian Schosek Perrone (1/20/2007) and Henry M. Perrone (2/24/2007); and his brother-in-law, Ronald E. Kanzig (5/12/2021).

Surviving are Edward’s sons, Daniel E. Perrone of Brooklyn, NY and David J. Perrone (Meredith) of Franklin Lakes, NJ; two grandchildren, Luke Joseph and Isla Anita; and his sister Ruth Ann Perrone of Jeromesville, Ohio.

A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Kevin McClain officiating.
