Dorotha (Dot) Landis formerly of 126 West Main Street Hayesville, passed away on Sunday February 16, 2020 at Brethren Care Village in Ashland Ohio. Born October 29, 1921 in Wayne County Ohio, she was the daughter of William and Daisy Mae (Easterday-Finney) Barr. She graduated from Jeromesville Schools in 1940 where she was a member of the 1938-39 and 1939-40 County Basketball champs.
In 1946 she married Don Landis who preceded her in death on February 25, 1997 after 51 years of marriage. Dorotha worked for 31 years at Mansfield Tire and Rubber Company. She was a member of Hayesville United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary Ashland Post 88. She was an avid lover of cats and dogs caring for many over the years. Don and Dorotha spent many weekends with family and friends at a cabin they owned in Marblehead and they also enjoyed many years of snowmobiling. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and two remaining sister in laws. Dorotha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, her two sisters Jean Young and Mildred Beck and her brother Robert Barr.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 22, 2020 at Hayesville United Methodist Church 44 South Mechanic Street Hayesville, Ohio. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Layton Broome officiating. Interment will follow in Vermillion Cemetery Hayesville Ohio. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of North Central Ohio, Hayesville United Methodist Church or Brethren Care Village.
