David Larry Cline Obituary

David Larry “Long Legs” Cline, 82, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away at his home

on May 9, 2026, surrounded by his children.

Larry was born on September 14, 1943, in Ashland, Ohio, to the late Clarence and

Geraldine Scott Cline. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Melvin, Dwight, and

Richard “Dick” Cline; a brother in law, Jerry Stockdale, his niece Marcie Hiller, his nephew, Tim Cline and

his favorite companion “Boomer”.

Larry spent most of his working years as a coal miner at Quarto #7 Mine in Powhatan Point.

Following his mining career, he retired from Tappan Appliances.

He was a long time resident of Monroe County , a place he dearly loved and always enjoyed

returning to spend time with family and friends. Larry loved hunting and fishing and

especially treasured time spent at the Cline Hunting camp, “Flatlander Rest.” He was a

devoted Nascar fan who especially cheered for Dale Earnhardt and Kyle Larson. Larry was

an avid fan of the Kentucky Wildcats.

Larry was known for his outgoing personality, contagious smile, and constant sense of

humor. He always had a joke, a prank, a funny face, a gesture or a funny story to share.

Even through many health struggles, he continued teasing nurses, family and friends just to

make others laugh. Larry’s strong will and love for life left a lasting impression on everyone

who knew him. In his final days, Larry shared with his family that he was ready to go fishing with

Jesus.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Von Rae Guiler of Marietta, Ohio and her four children,

Aleisha, Danielle, Joshua and Caleb; his daughter Jodi Cline of Ashland, Ohio and her sons,

Patrick, Dakota, and Christian; his son, Dustin Cline of Mansfield, Ohio with his fiancee

Jennifer and her sons Frank, Donovan and Dominic. Larry is also survived by his sisters, Sue Stockdale of

Hayesville, Bev Owens of Ashland, Darlene Harris of Jeromesville, sister in law Lana Cline of Hayesville
