1922-2025
Clara L. Bodager, 103 co-owner of Bodager Hardware Jeromesville, Ohio died March 4, 2025 at her
son's residence in Lexington, Kentucky.
Clara had been living independently in Lexington, Kentucky through the summer and in Nokomis, Florida
during the winter for many years.
Then in October 2024 she fell and broke her hip and she stayed at her son's house in Lexington til her struggle
ended March 4 and the Lord called her home.
Clara was born in Rankin, Illinois January 16, 1922 and she was the 8th child of 13 children of William and Lizzie
Neukomm Farney and lived on a large farm. Clara had 10 sisters and 2 brothers.
Clara owned the Bodager Hardware with her husband Dale who died March 27, 2008. She also operated Clara's
Collectible for several years there in Jeromesville.
Her three sons are Duane(Ginny) of Jeromesville, Ron (Peggy) of Lexington, Kentucky and Bryan Bodager
of Waverly, Ohio. She has 10 grandkids, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Nicole, Bryan's wife Pam and 10 sisters
and two brothers.
Clara and two sisters worked in Chicago for The McCarthys, owners of Procter and Gamble as nannie, cook
and house cleaners in the late 1930's for $5/week. Then during World War II she was a factory worker making
time switches for bombs. Clara met Dale at an Apostolic Christian Church and got married 4/5/45. Clara loved
having people visit their cabin on Pleasant Hill Lake and their home in Nokomis, Florida where and her husband
Dale stayed about 5 months each year. She was asked what the difference was between the youth of her age
and the children of today. She said, as a child they had nothing and they appreciated what they had, today's
children have so much and they don't appreciate it.
Visitation will be Saturday March 8, 2025 at 1pm at the Fickes Funeral Home 84 N High Street, Jeromesville,
Ohio and the service will be at 2:30 with Ron Bodager officiating. Burial will be at Apostolic Church Cemetery
in Ritman, Ohio. The dinner will be about 5:15pm at Jeromesville Christian Church.
