Cheryl Louise Pate, 76, of Rowsburg, Ohio was welcomed into the arms of our Lord on October 21, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family at Ohio Health Hospital in Mansfield, Ohio, following a cardiac arrest and a long and valiant battle with Non-Nodal Mantle Cell Lymphoma.
She was born on January, 13, 1948 to the late Don and Louise Weiler of Rowsburg, Ohio where she lived all of her life. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1966 and in September of 1967 she married her soul mate, Thomas E. Pate. Cheryl was employed by Columbia Gas of Ohio where she served the commuity as a Senior Customer Service Representative and she also helped train new employees. She retired from there after many years in 2000. Following retirement she got involved in many other activities to help keep her busy. She served 10 years on the Ashland County Election Board as a poll worker, and she also worked part time at Iriwns Office Equipment Supplies and Mason Mason and Fridline Attorney’s at Law in Ashland, Ohio as a part-time secretary. Cheryl was a lifetime member of the Rowsburg Lutheran Church where she served on the altar and social committees and also participated in the choir and Sunday School.
Cheryl had numerous hobbies to hlep her pass the time. She loved planting her flowers every spring and sitting on her porch swing watching her hummingbirds. Cheryl was an avid reader and always had a book in her hand. She claimed she was born under the sign of the wheel and was always ready to travel, especially for a ride to Lake Erie for lunch in her Mustang convertible. Her longest trip was a 2 month excursion out West where she and Tom drove a grand total of 9,466 miles. She loved to cruise and vacation with friends and family. She loved to vacation anywhere there was water and sand.
Cheryl is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 57 years, Thomas Pate; two children, Adam Edward Pate of Lakewood, Ohio and Jessica Lynn (Pate) Martin of Crestview, Florida. She is also survived by a brother, Frank (Jill) Weiler of Ashland, Ohio; a sister, Emma (Tom) Boylan of Willard, Ohio, and a brother-in-law, Paul Arnholt of Mansfield, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Richard (Donita) Pate of Ashland and a sister-in-law, Sandra (Bryan) Benton of Woodstock, Georgia; three grandchildren, Elijah Pate of Lakewood, Ohio, Chase Bradley Martin and Riley Elizabeth Martin of Crestview, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Louise Weiler of Rowsburg, Ohio; a sister Donna (Paul) Arnholt of Mansfield, Ohio; a son-in-law Bradley (Jessica) Martin of Crestview, Florida; and a mother-in-law, Marie Pate of Ashland, Ohio.
Cheryl will be deeply missed and cherished by her family.
Visitation will be held at Fickes Funeral Home, 84 N. High Street, Jeromesville, Ohio on Sunday October 27, 2024 between the hours of 6 pm and 8 pm. Services will be held at the Rowsburg Hillside Church, 137 County Road 1302, Rowsburg, Ohio on Monday October 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Pastor Kevin McClain of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashland, Ohio.
Interment will be in the Rowsburg Cemetery; Rowsburg, Ohio.
