It is with great gratitude for the generous, kind and purpose-filled life of Cathleen (Crowe) Mark,
that we as her family, announce her death at her home on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. She lived for
the past 43 years with her family on a farm near Jeromesville, OH. She was born on Feb. 5,
1940 in Cleveland, OH, the only child of John and Pearl Crowe. Cathleen was a principal of St.
Mary’s School in Wooster, OH for 20 years. Previously, she was an elementary teacher and
reading specialist at St. Edward’s School in Ashland. Cathleen’s joy-filled personality and
approach to life assured all who knew her of the value she placed on relationships and her role of
acknowledging, encouraging, helping and modeling to bring out the best in all of us. Time spent
in Cathleen’s company left all of us feeling better about ourselves, reminded of our potential and
gently encouraged to live our lives gracefully and with purpose, values which came naturally to
her and which she consistently modeled for everyone in all that she did. Cathleen was an avid
reader and a superb cook. She took great joy in visits from friends and family and loved nothing
more than a good chat over dinner and ice-cream! She adored her grandchildren and took up
interests to better connect with them. She was an inspiration to all those in her life. She will be
deeply missed by her beloved husband of 60 years, Douglas, aged 91, and their five children:
John (Rosetta) of Boston, MA, Thomas (Julie) of Bath, OH, James (Wendy) of Olmsted Falls,
OH, Matthew (Myra) of Copley, OH, and Sara (Jeff) of Mantua, OH. She had 13 grandchildren
whom she adored, and she enjoyed a unique relationship with each one: Connell, Chris, Alexa,
Anna, Michael, Ryan, Megan, Ben, Lindsey, Ethan, Colin, Madison and Austin. There will be
visiting hours on Tuesday, July 23 from 4:30pm – 7:00pm at Fickes Funeral Home, 84 North
High Street in Jeromesville, OH, 44840. There will be words of remembrance before visiting
hours close followed by an ice-cream social at the family farm – 508 CR 30-A, Jeromesville, OH
44840. A private, family mass for Cathleen will be celebrated earlier in the day. In lieu of
flowers, donations can be made to the Rich Center for Autism at https://ysu.edu/rich-center.
