Carol Humphrey Poeppelman
Carol Ellen Humphrey Poeppelman, 86 of Ashland passed away Saturday January 29, 2022 at her
residence. She was born March 22, 1935 in Parma the daughter of Fred and Eleanor Maschmeier
Karkan.
She worked as a secretary at Republic Steel in Cleveland and then also for Logee, Hostetler, Stutzman
and Lehman Law Firm in Wooster. Carol was a long time member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in
New Pittsburg, where she enjoyed her time on the Altar Guild and church council. She was a current
member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashland. Carol was an avid Cleveland sports fan, especially the
Cleveland Indians. She loved attending home games. Carol loved music and she enjoyed playing the
piano and organ. Her favorite past times were traveling, gardening, and planning and attending family
gatherings. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, William Poeppelman, four children, Kenneth (Monica) Humphrey of
Tucson, AZ, Cheryl (Brad) Phillips of Ashland, Donna (Jeff) Atkins of Congress and Darrell (Barbra)
Humphrey of Reno, NV, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, a brother, Donald Karkan of Parma
and a sister, Ellen Narr of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her first husband, Robert Humphrey in 1974.
Services will be 11:30 AM Friday February 11, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashland with Pastor
Kevin McClain officiating. Burial will be in New Pittsburg Cemetery.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Ashland in care of
the music program.
Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville assisted the family with arrangements.
