Barbara June (Eagle) McCrea

Barbara June McCrea, a longtime resident of Ashland,  found her peace on October 30th, 2023 at OhioHealth Shelby Hospital after battling detrimental health the last two years. Barb was born April 15, 1947 in Ashland and graduated from Ashland High School in 1965.  In 1968 she married the love of her life, Robert L. McCrea. The two would travel almost the entire United States throughout their 55 years of marriage. 

Her working years were spent in the data entry field. For over twenty years she worked for U-Brand Corporation in Ashland, followed by a stint at Shelby Mutual Insurance. Barb spent her last working years at McGraw Hill Publishing Co retiring in 2009.

Her passions ranged from traveling the country to dedicating her time and unconditional love to her grandchildren. Her grand babies were everything to her. She loved to bowl, play card games, was an avid book reader, and valued the time spent with her girlfriends. Barbara was a kind soul that was full of love, smiles, laughter, and hugs. 

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Grace (Lifer) Eagle, and stepson, Albert McCrea.  She is survived by her husband, Robert L. McCrea; Son, Robert B. (Kandi) McCrea; Grandaughters Grace (Tyler) Slaven, Ruth McCrea, Hannah McCrea, Sarah McCrea, Destiny Wilson; Great Grandson Beau Wilson; Brother, Jim (Sally) Eagle; Sisters, Jean Boreman and Patty (Darrell) Smith.   

Evening calling hours will be held at Fickes Funeral Home 84 N High St,  Jeromesville, OH from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm on Friday November 10, 2023 with the memorial service to immediately follow. Barb was a night owl and she wouldn’t have wanted anything earlier.
