Barbara Ann Hiner
Barbara Ann Hiner of Loudonville, Ohio died on January 7, 2025 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Betty L. Hiner and grandparents J.P. and Edith Hiner. She is survived by her sisters Rebecca Veazey and Holly Robbins, her nieces Elise Veazey Stacey, Hilary Robbins (Dan Helfer), Jessica Robbins (Andre Gobbo), and great nieces Celia Stacey, Clara Stacey, and Remy Helfer.
Born the first daughter of Harold and Betty Lou Hiner, Barbara was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashland, Ohio. She attended Ashland High School, where she made lifelong friends and became known for her beauty, kindness, and gentle spirit. She was a member of the Sweet Sixteen dance group and the school choir, leaving a lasting impression on those who knew her.
Barbara attended The Ohio State University in Columbus. However, at the age of 19, she faced the challenges of mental illness and returned to Ashland to live with her beloved grandmother, Edith. Barbara became a devoted caregiver to Edith, tending to her with love and compassion until her grandmother's passing in 2001.
In the years following, Barbara found a home at the Loudonville Rest Home, where she received dedicated and loving care from Patty Thatcher, her daughter Mary Edwards, Jean King, Tiffany Campbell and the rest of the compassionate staff. The family is profoundly grateful for the warmth and kindness shown to Barbara during her time there.
In honor of Barbara's memory, the family asks that donations be made in her name to either the Loudonville Rest Home (205 N. Water Street, Loudonville, Ohio 44842) or the Appleseed Community Mental Health Center (2233 Rocky Lane, Ashland, Ohio 44805).
Barbara’s family and friends will remember her for her gentle nature, her devotion to her loved ones, and the quiet strength she displayed throughout her life. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
There will be no services. Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville assisted the family with arrangements.
