Obituary

Sharon Ann Hastings, 70, of Ashland, passed away November 21, 2016 at her home in Ashland after a three year battle with cancer.
Sharon was born June 10, 1946 in Ashland County to Richard and Mary Jane Miller of Rowsburg who preceded her in death.  She was a lifetime resident of Ashland County and was a graduate of Ashland High School.  She was a member of the Rowsburg Lutheran Church.
Sharon married Bill Hastings on Feb 10, 1967 and enjoyed 49 years of marriage.  Together, they had four children, Mark (Lewisberry, PA), Julie (Ashland, KY), Mitch (Ashland, OH) and his wife Jenny, and Mike (Ashland, OH).  She is also survived by six granddaughters, Ryann, Lauren, Rachel, and Alexis of Ashland, and Karson and Peyton of Lewisberry, PA.  Also surviving is her sister Kay (Howard) Smithhisler, and brothers, Larry (Linda) Miller, and David (Bea) Miller as well as many nieces and nephews.
Sharon's true passion was cooking as she was employed as a cook at the Middle School at Northwestern School District for 32 years.  She especially enjoyed cooking for her family as well as others who had many favorite meals and dishes.  She was known for being a wonderful cook.
Sharon had a love for sports as well, being a huge Cleveland Indians, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Cleveland Cavaliers fan.  She also enjoyed fastpitch softball which her family was heavily involved in.  She supported countless softball games of her husband's, children's, and granddaughters.  She also enjoyed watching her granddaughter's volleyball, basketball, and LaCrosse games, always being their number one fan.
Traveling was another thing that Sharon enjoyed, taking annual family vacations to Florida and Arizona as well as weekend trips.  She enjoyed her summers which included gardening, working in the yard, and taking care of her flowers.  She also liked to get together with friends and family to play cards.
Sharon was a sweet, kind, family oriented woman who was loved deeply and will be missed by her family and friends.
