Rodger R. Horn, 80 of Hayesville, peacefully passed
November 5, 2014 at his home. Rodger was born
January 10, 1934 in Youngstown, the son of Rodger John
and Esther Marie (nee' McConnell) Horn.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps,
serving his country during the Korean Conflict.
Rodger and his family moved to Ashland in 1961 when
Rodger took a job with Stanley Smith Construction. He later was employed by Stahl's
Hardware (Refrigeration). He retired after 31 years from Ohio Edison. Rodger was
also an Ashland Volunteer Fireman and a Hayesville Marshall.
He was an active member of the Mohicanville Community Church and enjoyed many
sports including softball, golf, bowling, fishing and hunting.
On December 23, 1956 Rodger married the love of his life, Mary Jo Troupe, who survives.
Rodger will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary Jo of nearly 58 years; his daughters, Deb
(Jeff) Hawks of Mansfield, Linda (Bruce Bedwell) Horn, and Jennifer (Chris) Smith, all of
Ashland, a son, Richard (Kaelene) Horn of Michigan, his grandchildren, Angela (Tyler)
Smith, Adam & Sara Hawks, Aaron Hawks, Tina (Nate) Kyser, Matt & RJ Horn, Allyson
(Adam) Goble,Jody & Jordan Erickson, and his special great-grandsons, Brody and Brayden
Smith, and Jonah & Elijah Kyser. His first great-granddaughter, Kendall is expected in
December. Rodger will be her special Angel.
Rodger was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judith McKay, mother-in-law, Frances
Troupe & brother-in-law, Thomas Troupe.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday November 10, 2014 at Fickes Funeral Home in
Jeromesville with Pastor Gregg Rowan officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Co. Memorial
Park where the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites.
Friends may call Sunday November 9, 2014 from 4-6 pm at the funeral home.
