Robert (Bob) Gary Amend, age 75, of Ashland, Ohio passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023. He was born December 15, 1947 in Ashland, Ohio to the late Robert E. and Alverda (Casler) Amend. He was a life long resident of Ashland County. He graduated from the first class of Hillsdale High School in 1965. He retired from Hydromatic Pump of Ashland after 30 years of employment. He attended the Ashland, Loudonville and Mansfield East, Ohio congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses and served as an Elder when he attended the Loudonville, Ohio congregation.

Robert developed a love of the great outdoors as a child, reading stories from his favorite author, Zane Grey, and became an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hiking, especially at Mohican State Park and Malabar Farms. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing on the family farm and other favorite spots.

Robert was nostalgic for the old days and simpler times and would not hesitate to tell you he was "born about 150 years too late." He often spoke of his strong faith in God's Kingdom which he shared with many of his friends and neighbors.

Robert is survived by his daughters; Sonya (Dan) White, of Crestline, Ohio; Sharlene (Jahaziel) Lopez of Mansfield, Ohio; Serena (David) Schuck of Jeromesville, Ohio; and Stephanie Amend of Brooklyn, New York. He is also survived by a grandson; Hunter Schuck and several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patricia Hawkins, his brother Allen (Doug) Amend; his sister Pamela Dillon and his son, Ryan Amend.

Friends may call at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1780 Middle Bellville Rd, Mansfield, OH 44904 on Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 3:30 to 4:30 PM. A memorial service will follow immediately, with Kenneth Kubasek of the Mansfield South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating.
