Ray Douglas Hall, 81 of Jeromesville passed away Monday March 14, 2022 at UH Samaritan Medical
Center. He was born July 3, 1940 in Cuyahoga County the son of Alfred and Catherine Miller Hall.
He was a 1958 graduate of Jeromesville High School and was a farmer, living by the motto "Leave the
land better than when you found it." His parents moved to the present farm in 1940. Originally it was
a vegetable farm, then became a dairy farm and today is a grain farm operated by Ray's son and
grandson. Ray was a member of the Jeromesville United Methodist Church, Jeromesville Loins Club,
Jeromesville Fire Department, Ashland Depth Divers, NFO, US Power Squadron, Supervisory Board
Ashland County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Gold Wing Road Riders. He was
Ashland County Outstanding Farmer of the Year in 1987 and was inducted into the Ashland County
Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the 1957 Jeromesville 6 man football team in 2010.
Ray loved spending summer days on Catawba Island and was a snowbird in Fort Myers after
retirement. He and his wife, Jean rode their Gold Wing in 49 of the 50 states.
Ray is survived by his wife, Jean Briggs Hall, to whom he was married August 27, 1960, a daughter,
Tammy Brockway of Jeromesville, a son, Keith (Valerie) Hall of Jeromesville, four grandchildren,
Daniel (Ashley) Brockway of Jeromesville, Joel (Kristen) Brockway of Jeromesville, Andy (Karla)
Hall of Jeromesville and Amanda Hall of Hartenbos, South Africa, three great grandchildren, Knox
Brockway, Aaron Hall and Ashton Hall, and his faithful companion, Yogi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Betty Garman and Sally Colwell.
Services will be 10:30 AM Saturday March 19, 2022 at the Jeromesville United Methodist Church with
Rev. Sue Chidley and Rev. Warren Brown officiating. Burial will be in Jeromesville Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday March 18, 2022 from 5-8 pm at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville.
