Obituary

Phyllis Jean McIntire, 90, of Jeromesville died peacefully Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Embassy Crystal Care Center, Ashland, OH.

She was born January 22, 1931, in Akron, the daughter of William and Dorothy Martin-Hardy.

Phyllis was a 1948 graduate of Jeromesville High School and a member of the Jeromesville United Methodist Church where she faithfully attended and served. She was a bus driver for Dale Roy School and Training Center where she retired after 33 years of service. At work, home, or in the community, Phyllis always made sure everyone got where they were supposed to be, and on-time. As a VIP blood donor, she was proud of her gift-of-life by donating over 31 gallons to the American Red Cross during her lifetime. She most enjoyed spending time with family, playing Canasta with her friends monthly since 1948, and watching Cleveland Indians & Cleveland Browns games.

She is survived by her three daughters and one son-in-law, Raelene Shenberger of Ashland, Peg Figley of Jeromesville, and Cheryl (Jeff) Trayter of Doylestown; a granddaughter and grandson Jodi (Lee) Hower of Jeromesville; two great-grandchildren, Lexus Harpster and Karson Harpster; a sister, Theresa Shibinski of Jeromesville, two brothers, Earl Hardy of Jeromesville and Wilbur (Kim) Hardy of Viera, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Roger McIntire, in 1953; a son Larry McIntire in 1974; a brother, Delbert Hardy in 2004; her husband of 61 years, Francis Ray McIntire in 2009; and son-in-law, Steven Shenberger in 2019.

Her celebration of life service will be at 11:30am Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Jeromesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Sue Chidley officiating. Friends may call prior to the service starting at 10am, at the church. Burial will be in Jeromesville Cemetery after the service.
