Rev. Paul L. Newmeyer, age 80, entered into the presence of his Lord on July 21, 2016 after a long battle with Alzehimer's.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Hagarty Newmeyer; and his children David Newmeyer (Cheryle) of Geneva, OH; Cheryl Dulaney (Tom) of Clayton, NC,; Mark Newmeyer (Amy) of Chesapeake, VA; Kara Hess (Chuck) of Uniontown, OH; sister Carol Gess (Jerry) of Ashland, OH; brother Stanley Newmeyer (Pat) of Ashland, OH;  six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Paul was a graduate from Ashland University and Luther Rice Seminary. He faithfully served as a pastor for 25 years with the Christian & Missionary Alliance with congregations in Parkersburg, WV; Geneva, OH; and Akron, OH. Many lives were influenced through his biblical teaching and evangelism.

He was greatly loved and admired by his children. His humor was often a focal point of family events. From time to time he wrote poetry and his humorous side was often on display.

My hair was falling on my collar.
Since leaving its domain.
It came out in the sink and show'r,
While clogging up the drain.

I tried to cover up the spaces,
Where growing it had been,
And comb it into other places,
By styling it again.

It's gone and I am fully free,
To know that it's no gag—
I need no fancy comb, you see,
I'm combing with a rag.

A funeral service will be held at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville, OH at 11 on Monday, July 25, 2016, with calling hours at 10.  Burial will be in Jeromesville Cemetery.
