Nellie Mae (Garn) Dravenstott passed away peacefully on September 6 at Kingston of Ashland.
Mae was born September 20, 1927 to Guy and Ida Mae Garn in West Salem. She resided in Ashland since 1949.  She was married to Elza Dravenstott, who preceded her in death in 1993. They were married for 47 years. They were owners of Elza's Home Store which they started after Elza recovered from polio. They ran the store from the front of their home until they expanded to the house next door in 1973.  Mae went to work every day with her son until she had surgery in May.
Family came first in her life as she treasured her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved bragging about each one and their many accomplishments. She loved their family gatherings, especially Christmas. She was a generous and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her children, William (Connie) Dravenstott, Mary (Terry) Adkins, Linda (David) Goodman, all of Ashland, Kathleen (Daryl) Atterholt of rural Loudonville.
Her grandchildren are Rob (Laura), Richard (Kristie), John (Katie), and Ron (Kelley) Dravenstott, Toby and Eric (Cindy Davies) Adkins, Heather (John) Sheehy, Michelle and
Curt (Angie) Goodman, Nathan (Amy) and Nick Atterholt. She also has twelve great grandchildren and another on the way.
Mae also is survived by a sister June Bianchi of Canton and sister-in-law, Pauline Schlingman.  She was preceded in death by her brothers Karl and Ross, sister Irene Richie and infant twin sister Eleanor Rae.
Mae loved to be busy. She enjoyed reading, working in her flower beds, doing needlework, puzzles, and loving her cats.  Mae would do anything to help her husband, Elza, which included going on many fishing trips or helping decorate doll houses he built, or any other crafts he enjoyed.
Mae enjoyed spending time with her good friends Norma Gallaway and Bev Adkins. Mae considered Mark Schlingman, her nephew, like her second son.
Contributions can be made to the Ashland Christian Church, Ashland Humane Society, or Hospice of North Central Ohio.
You can visit with the family from 6-8 at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville on Friday from 6-8.  Funeral services will be on Saturday at 10:30 at Fickes.
