Obituary

Martha Jane Meng, 94, passed away January 10, 2019 at Medina Cleveland Clinic after a brief illness.  She was surrounded by her loving family.  She was born June 16, 1924 in Ashland to Lisle and Elsie (Miller) Donelson.  Martha grew up in Ashland and graduated from Ashland High School in 1942.  On December 1, 1945 she married Earl Meng who awaits her in Heaven.  Earl preceded her in death on December 1, 2012.  Over the 67 years Earl and Martha were married, they enjoyed many trips in the United States and abroad.  Martha was a member of the Eastern Star.
While the family lived in Alliance, Martha worked at the Tannenhauf Golf Course and after settling permanently in Lodi, she worked alongside Earl at the Lodi Equity as a bookkeeper where she got to know everyone in the farming community.  She lived at home until her death and loved going on long car rides with her family.
Moomie, as she was lovingly called by her grandchildren, was so proud of her five generations of family and always knew everyone's birthdays, even as the family grew and grew.  Surviving are children Kennard (Jill) of Wooster, Philip of Lodi, Kathy Piatt-Hitt of Butler, Pa.; grandchildren, Tracy and Drew Meng, Todd and Keith Meng, Katti Meng, Jessica Meng Fulton, Jason, Andrew and Mya Hitt; 15 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sisters Marjorie Ross of Fremont and Evelyn Weiler of Ashland and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Martha was preceded in death by siblings Lois Balsizer, Dale Donelson, Allen Donelson, and Kenneth Donelson.
Martha's Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 19th at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1301 State Route 89, Ashland at 1:30 p.m. with Jennifer Darling-Mellott officiating.  Matt Miller, friend of the family, will deliver Martha's Celebration of Life. A luncheon will follow the service.
Martha will join her husband in burial at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman at a later date.
Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville assisted the family with arrangements.
