Marilyn J. Bauer, 86, of Ashland, devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother passed away on May 2, 2024 at Brethren Care Health Care Center.
She was born to Harry and Evelyn Stough on September 7, 1937 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
She married her childhood sweetheart, Raymond, (Mike), Bauer on August 30, 1956 who preceded her in death in 2022.
Marilyn held many jobs throughout her lifetime from salesclerk, Times Gazette newspaper deliverer, Hayesville Elementary School playground aid, Avon representative, and Hawkins Market deli manager from which she retired after several years.
She will be missed by her children David (Gina) Bauer of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Deb (Mark) Grimwood of Ashland, grandchildren Sarah (Josh) Glaze, Zach (Lauren) Bauer, Luke (Gouri) Bauer, and Matt (Cassandra) Threlkeld. Also surviving are her 8 great- grandchildren: Alexis, DJ, Johanna, Henry, Emma, Bradley, Livianna, and Leo.
Marilyn was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an active member of the Toana Women's Club and Red Hat's Society in Williamsburg, Virginia where she and her husband lived for 18 years before returning to Ashland. Marilyn loved to cross stitch, make beautiful handmade cards for her family and friends, play Bingo, travel, and decorate her home for every occasion.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later time.
Memorial contributions can be made to Gentiva Hospice of Mount Vernon 112 Harcourt Road St. Rt. 3 Mt. Vernon 43050, or to Brethren Care Auxiliary Committee Fund 2000 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful staff at both Gentiva Hospice and Brethren who provided wonderful care for her.
