Margaret Eleanor Sparr Smith, 88, formerly of Jeromesville, died on June 17, 2011, 7:30 a.m. at Shepherd of the Valley, Boardman, Ohio.  She was born on April 22, 1923 to Ralph and Margaret Sparr, both deceased.  On June 27, 1942 she married Walter "Pete" Smith, Jr. who died December 16, 2010.  She is survived by  her son, Stuart A. Smith (Julianne) of Poland, OH, granddaughters Jessica Smith of Upper Sandusky, OH, and Sarah Dunbar (Joshua) of Hamilton, OH and great-granddaughter Brenna Dunbar.  She also leaves a sister Carol Mott of Loudonville, and a sister-in-law, Helen Milne of Lake Havasu City, AZ along with cousins, nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Jeromesville, where she was very active, and especially enjoyed singing in the choir.  She enjoyed flower gardening, food preservation, sewing, crocheting and reading.  She was a member of the Merry Gardners Garden Club, and the American Legion Post 749 Auxiliary. She also performed in the Hayesville Follies.
She was also preceded in death by her brother Keith Sparr, and sisters, Pauline Allenbaugh, Barbara Lee, Maxine Butterbaugh, and Phyllis Campbell.
The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 30 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jeromesville.  The funeral service begins at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Jerry Rhea, followed by interment at Jeromesville Cemetery.
