Obituary

Lois Smith, 94 of Wooster, died Sunday November 20, 2016 at Danbury Woods in

Wooster.  She was born June 4, 1922 in Dwight, Nebraska the daughter of Ernest and

Mary Zitek Sabata.

She was a homemaker and spent many years working with cub scouts and boy scouts,

earning the Silver Beaver Award.  Silver awards are the highest awards in the BSA.

Being married to a military man, she and her husband, Richard Smith moved many times.

She is survived by her husband, Richard A. Smith, to whom she was married to for over

70 years, four children, Leland Smith of Berlin, Maryland, Karen Newberry of Wooster,

Cheryl Austen of Jeromesville and Kevin Smith of Waldorf, Maryland, 10 grandchildren,

11 great grandchildren, and a sister, Janet Spurgeon of Gretna, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Krenk and JoAnn Shonka, a son-in-law,

Stoney Newberry and a grandson, Corey Smith.

A memorial service will be at a later date, followed by entombment at Arlington National

Cemetery.
