Leon E. Pore, age 94 of rural Jeromesville, died Thursday June 16, 2011
at Crystal Care Nursing Home. He was born June 21, 1916 in Knox Co.
the son of George and Ethel Stout Pore. He graduated from Danville
High School in 1933. He attended Mt. Vernon Business College,
Mansfield Commercial Institute and Ashland College. He worked
in the Commerce Department, Navy Department and General Accounting
Office, all in Washington, D.C. After several years he returned to Ohio
where he was a Rural Mail Carrier and retired from Columbia Gas.
On July 24, 1942 he married Ruth Ann Goho of Rochester, New York who
also worked in Washington, D.C. at the time.
He was an avid fancier of Classic and Antique cars and at one time was Editor
of The Model A Ford Club publication in the Penn-Ohio Region. He was a
charter member of the Copus Hill Model A Club. Leon was a member of the
Hayesville United Methodist Church. He was a 57 year member of The
Fraternal Order of the Masonic Lodge, #546 Danville, OH, #199 Bladensburg, OH
and was also a 57 year member of the Scottish Rite, Columbus, OH.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sharlene and William Helbert,
a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Kathleen Pore, 5 grandchildren
and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann Pore on September 23, 2006
and a great grandson, Logan Busch on March 7, 2006.
Services will be 2:00 PM Monday June 20, 2011 at Fickes Funeral Home
in Jeromesville with Pastor Wendy Guion officiating. Burial will be in
Vermillion Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
