Kelby, age 29, of Jeromesville, Ohio, died October 16, 2022, in a tragic pedestrian verses motor vehicle accident. The son of Philip and Onah (Swain) Britenbucher, born February 15, 1993 in Ashland, Ohio. A 2011 graduate of Hillsdale High School, where he excelled in Family and Consumer Sciences. In High school, he enjoyed playing the tuba in the band. He participated in Tuba Christmas multiple years and once was identified as the youngest player in the performance at Hugo Young Theater. Following high school, Kelby earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Culinary Arts from Bradford School. Kelby worked at Mohican State Lodge and several food service establishments. He also enjoyed working as a direct support person for adult developmentally disabled individuals.
In his spare time, he continued to cook, making his memorable cheesecake and fruit scones. Having learned to knit and crochet in high school, he continued this skill in his adult life. He was an avid reader and enjoyed Harry Potter and The Twilight series. The show, Bob's Burgers, brought laughter to his eyes.
Kelby leaves behind his mother and father, 2 brothers Kristopher (Melody) Britenbucher of Lochgelly, West Virgina, Kasey Britenbucher of Loudonville, Grandmother Rosemary Britenbucher of Ashland, and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Also special friends Robert and Brian and his canine buddy Tipsey.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ray Britenbucher and Donald and Mable Swain.
Kelby will be remembered for having a big heart, a loving kind soul and an infectious laugh. He could always find humor in a situation. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Memorial services are planned for Sunday November 6, 2022 at Ashland Church of Christ, 1185 C.R. 1356, Ashland, Ohio. Visitation starting at 4:00 pm with memorial services at 4:30 pm.
Fickes Funeral Home assisted the family with final arrangements.
