Joseph H.
Woodring
Aug 29, 1937 — Apr 1, 2013
Joseph H. Woodring, 75 died Monday April 1, 2013
at his residence. He was born August 29, 1937 to
Clarence Ardell and Gladys Eveleen (Ballard) Woodring
in Marion, OH. He was a meat cutter by trade working
many years at IGA in Mount Vernon, T&A SaveWay
and Cleveland Ave. Market in Ashland. Always willing
to tell women how to cook the meat he sold. He never
wanted to take anything from anyone.
He loved to travel, spending 22 winters in Florida fishing,
bringing home enough fish for a fish fry, serving anywhere
from 80 to over 100 people. What a great day! He loved
spending time with his family. He was a wonderful husband,
father, grandfather and great-grandfather and brother, teaching
by his everyday life experiences. He loved his little dog, Sunny
and was a member of the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren.
Joe loved working with wood, made several pieces of furniture
and gave some away, plus some pieces in his home along with
doll cases and walking canes shaped like a saw. He loved
to work in the yard and garden, starting a lot of plants from seeds.
He could fix almost anything, thinking about it at night when in
bed and fixing it the next day.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Steward Woodring to whom he
was married December 8, 1972, his children, Kathy O'Dell of
Steinhatchee, FL, William Woodring of Utica, Brenda Rose of
Rock Hill, SC, Michael (Linda) Woodring of Millersburg, Almira Marks
of Nathalie, VA, Teddy Woodring of FL, Jerry (Pam) Shank of
Mt. Vernon, Susan (Max) Robinson of Clark Lake, MI, Patricia (Charles)
Fleming of Merritt Island, FL, Robert Shank, Pam Kiplinger, Deb Gorman
all of Ashland, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a
brother, Clarence (Teddy) Willis of Colonial Heights, VA and sisters-in-law,
Charlotte Johns of Albion, Nancy (Harold) Keener of Ashland and
Jean Sprinkle of Ashland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David Woodring,
a great-grand daughter, Brittney Palms, a sister, Wanda Jones and
three brothers, William, Richard and Kenneth Woodring, his in-laws,
John and Virginia Steward and two brothers-in-law, John Steward Jr.
and Phil Johns.
