Obituary

John Gail Sheriff, 81 of rural Ashland died Thursday May 8, 2014 at his residence.  He

was born July 10, 1932 in Ashland Co. the son of John E. and Eva M.Groff Sheriff.  He

was a 1950 graduate of Hayesville High School and was a U.S. Marine veteran of the

Korean Conflict.  Gail   worked heavy construction as a Union Carpenter for Local 735 and

attended Lucas Grace Bible Church.  He had been an avid singer all his life and along

with his father, brothers and sister, sang in the Sheriff Quartet for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Twining Sheriff, to whom he was married October 16,

1965, four daughters, Debbie (David) Donough of Perrysville, Cindy (Rick) Jones of

Archbold, Cathy (Fiance` Steve Spaniel) Rachel of Mansfield and Jamie (Rob) Dauel of

Toledo, two sons, Dan (Sylvia) Banks of Ashland and Josh Sheriff of Wake Forest, N.C.,

11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, a brother, Robert (Marilyn) Sheriff of Ashland,

and a brother-in-law, Gaylord Anderson of Ashland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Mervin Sheriff and a sister, Esther

Anderson.

Services will be 1:30 PM Tuesday May 13, 2014 at Lucas Grace Bible Church with

Pastor Wayne Presnell officiating.  Burial will be in Vermillion Cemetery.

Friends may call Monday May 12, 2014 from 4-8 pm at Fickes Funeral Home in

Jeromesville or one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
